With the rise in pet ownership over recent weeks, the debate on pets in rented properties continues. In response, Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS) is broadcasting a live webinar for landlords and letting agents to help highlight common pet-related tenancy deposit disputes.
A survey from the long-established tenancy deposit protection scheme found that half of landlords have experienced damage to their properties by pets. However, since the Tenant Fees Act was introduced last year, landlords and letting agents are unable to charge tenants a higher deposit or additional fees to cover the risk of pets in properties.
To help, TDS is hosting a free webinar on Pets in Properties on 18th August 2020 at 11am, where Sandy Bastin, Head of TDS Adjudication Services, will take a look at real life dispute case studies on pets in private rented properties.
By highlighting issues that occurred in tenancies and how they were resolved, attendees may be able to mitigate risk in their properties.
The case studies will highlight whether tenancy deposit deductions are reasonable.
TDS launched its series of webinars in the wake of the pandemic in response to a growing need from landlords, letting agents and tenants for guidance and clarity.
With a consistent 4.5 out of 5 star rating, attendees frequently comment on how informative and clear the content and speakers are.
