Warning of fake DepositGuard website scam

Tags: ,

It has been brought to our attention that some members of the public have experienced fraudulent activity under the name of DepositGuard, a service offered by the Residential Landlords Association for deposit protection with TDS.

Tenants searching for rental properties online have been contacted by a fake website posing as DepositGuard under the web address of www.depositguard-rla.co.uk asking to wire payment to an account to secure the property.

The Residential Landlord Association has reported this to the police and is doing everything it can to prevent further instances.

The security of the RLA and TDS websites has not been compromised in any way. The scam operates through fraudlent use of DepositGuard branding.

The only legitimate DepositGuard websites are through the RLA website itself at www.rla.org.uk/depositguard and through partner landlord accreditation sites
• www.depositguard.co.uk

If you know someone or you have been personally affected by this online scam, please report any activity to Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk.
