Residential Landlords' AssociationTDS is presenting a new training course with the Residential Landlords' Association, which teaches you all you wanted to know about the principles of tenancy deposit protection ‐ the whys, the do's and the don'ts!

This half day course provides property professionals with invaluable information on the easy way to protect tenancy deposits ‐ and most importantly, avoid disputes!

For the professional landlord, this course will provide attendees with key information on tenancy legislation, avoiding disputes and how to protect your deposits using DepositGuard* as a model to purchase and use.

Objectives

This course aims to help professional landlords understand deposit legislation, how to register deposits via DepositGuard and other tenancy deposit schemes, along with how to avoid, prepare for and how to present your case when deposit disputes occur.

Course Content

This course covers each stage of the deposit protection process including:

  • An outline of tenancy deposit protection legislation ‐ why landlords need to protect their deposits
  • How to protect your deposits using DepositGuard
  • Overview of online deposit services, documentation and deposit protection cost
  • Alternative dispute resolution ‐ What are the benefits of ADR and how does it work?
  • Managing your deposits & your expectations ‐ the importance of communication and record keeping
  • How to collect evidence effectively including inventories, photographs and invoices
  • The adjudication process ‐ How to prepare and deal with the outcome
  • Question and answer session

*DepositGuard is a benefit for members of the Residential Landlords' Association, provided by the Tenancy Deposit Scheme.

RLAAS is a national scheme who aim to encourage, acknowledge and actively promote good standards and management practice by owners and to assist owners and tenants to undertake their respective responsibilities to each other. Members of RLAAS also recieve a discount when enroling for a course operated by the Residential Landlord's Association.
