CEO Of The Dispute Service Appointed New Chair of Waterways Ombudsman Committee

Steve Harriott, Chief Executive at The Dispute Service has been appointed the independent Chair of the Waterways Ombudsman Committee. The Waterways Ombudsman is responsible for dealing with complaints from users of the waterways controlled by the Canal and River Trust (the successor body to the British Waterways Board).

The Dispute Service by led Steve Harriott resolves 15,000 disputes a year for the Tenancy Deposit Scheme, TDS Northern Ireland, and SafeDeposits Scotland. Like The Dispute Service, the Committee has no involvement in the decisions taken by the Ombudsman.

Steve Harriott said “I am delighted to have been elected as the Chair of the Waterways Ombudsman Committee on a voluntary basis.   The Waterways Ombudsman play a key role in ensuring that customers of the Canal and River Trust have access to redress when things go wrong.   I hope that I can bring my experience of running an award winning dispute resolution service to the work of the Waterways Ombudsman”.
